Chattanooga 311 received 825 pothole requests from May through October 2026, down from 1,206 in the same months of 2025.
Chattanooga 311 received 825 pothole requests from May through October 2026, down from 1,206 in the same months of 2025. Nearly all were closed by the due date the city set: 800 of 825 (97.0%), up from 998 of 1,206 (82.8%). The promised window did not change, a median 7 days in both years, and most requests in both years were HIGH priority (1,102 in 2025, 790 in 2026). The median time from request to closure fell from 3.3 days to 1.7, and requests that took more than two weeks to close fell from 60 to 2.
How the requests were closed also changed. In 2026, 146 of the 825 pothole requests (17.7%) were closed with the status CLOSED - UNRESOLVED. That status was used on 2 pothole requests from May-October 2025, and has been applied to between 5 and 35 pothole requests a month since January 2026. Only 20 of the 146 came within 30 days of an earlier pothole request at the same address, so most are not repeat reports. The data does not record why a request was closed unresolved.
Counting only requests closed as resolved, by the due date, the share was 79.5% (656 of 825) in 2026, against 82.8% (998 of 1,206) in 2025. Month by month that share ran from 70.5% to 92.5% between May and October 2026, about the same as the 69.2% to 92.3% range a year earlier. Requests that were resolved were handled faster, though: 96.9% of them met the due date (656 of 677), against 85.2% (998 of 1,172), with a median of 1.9 days to close against 3.3. All nine council districts had a higher on-time share for resolved requests in 2026, from 95.4% (District 1) to 100% (District 5), against 64.3% to 95.0% in 2025.
The dates show when a request was marked closed in the 311 system, which may come after the repair itself. Closures were not bunched on a few days in either year: the ten busiest closing days held 24% of resolved closures in 2025 and 25% in 2026. Two requests from the period are still open.
